The programme could be scrapped in the foreseeable future with ratings declining
The BBC has been blasted as 'woke' by fans after it emerged Football Focus was losing viewers.
The programme has been on air every Saturday since 1974 and is set to celebrate it's 50th anniversary next year.
Earlier on Friday, however, it transpired that Football Focus' viewership was declining with each year.
Numbers have spiralled and there's now a chance it could soon be scrapped, with BBC bosses heading for 'urgent talks'.
Gary Lineker has now been targeted by some fans online after sharing an interview with Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou for the channel.
"Lineker giving football focus the angeball rub to get the ratings up," said one user.
A second stated: "Have you had to get Lineker in to try and save the ratings?"
A third said: "Can't be bothered watching this coz (sic) of Lineker."
And a fourth user tweeted: "I honestly didn't know Football Focus was still on.
"I have no interest in what most pundits have to say, male or female.
"I like Wrighty and McCoist as they have good knowledge and are a good laugh. Ex-players pundits should have played top level pro-football.
"I hate Lineker."
Many others have also targeted Alex Scott and believe the BBC went 'woke' when they replaced Dan Walker with the former Arsenal star in 2021.
"Football Focus has lost 50% of viewers since Alex Scott took over, yet BBC still love HER? GO WOKE, GO BROKE," ranted one user.
"Objectively Alex Scott is a terrible TV presenter," were the harsh words of another.
"Football Focus in danger…just get rid of Alex Scott that would help," stated a third.
And another said: "Go woke go broke.
"We told them time and time again we didn't want women commenting on the men's game.
"Well done @AlexScott you've ruined what used to be a good show."
Many were also quick to defend Scott, however, and insisted it wasn't the presenter's fault that Football Focus was now in trouble.
"Whenever Alex Scott is trending it's always a dumpster fire of misogyny. I don't know how she copes with it all," one user said defiantly.
"Alex Scott = Queen," a fan said while sharing an image of the presenter in a red dress.
And another opined: "Let’s face facts FF audience was declining way before Alex Scott, just a convenient narrative."
The BBC, for now, aren't panicking and are hoping the show will bounce back.

Yet with increased competition it's now increasingly difficult for them to attract viewers on a weekly basis.
